chasing all the fucked up threads, there were a bunch.

 destroyed primary drain threads

the solution, go up on size

yep, these cases have been grenaded in the past. the repairs are legit.

got a hell of a deal at the swap meet on a 4 speed with trap door. it was all mixed up in one box covered in shrink wrap and thats how i bought it. i dunno if old boy knew that there were extra parts in there. i just need to figure out the set up for a 70 XL, it was one of those funky two year runs.

got the forks in but i'm wondering if one of the gears on the mainshaft is the correct one. i just need to do my home work.

The cases look good, just a couple stripped threads here and there. the primary drain plug hole is destroyed, i'll just tap it next size up. not a bad deal overall came with a notarized bill of sale made out to me. i checked the vin prior to shelling out the skrill and it came back as "not stolen". i'm taking a trip upstate new york this weekend to meet with the gray bearded wizard who claims to have boxes upon boxes of NOS sportster parts from the 70s. apparently he was buying everyone out during the 80s and 90s, we'll see if what he claims is true. expect pictures to back this trip up. and the big swap meet in connecticut going down sunday, after which i will be picking up a decent 98 F150 for $500. busy weekend, busy next couple weeks, expect more posts.

thursday i pick up a set of matching cases off a 1970 xl ironhead, it works out perfect because i have a 73 frame, 35 mm front end with shaved lowers, and other random crusty parts i have acquired over the last 4 years. this will be a truly from scratch build.
